[Sailing the Pacific from Marina del Rey, CA]
I wrote my first novel set in a slushy October storm in the City of Big Shoulders: Chicago. Now as I craft the travel thriller series, I'm laying some breadcrumbs for our characters. A fresh POV as it were...
We've just enjoyed a couple roadtrips plus some R & R under sail.
I saw my first shipwreck in person. I was even offered a job as a Captain after my first sunset sail at the helm. Cue all sorts of LA stories such as meeting "The Fast & Furious" cast and stuntmen on our hotel rooftop.
Several nights of uber fresh seafood , ocean views and invites with beautiful people...all in the name of research of course. No complaints when my life mirrors the best parts of a cinematic thriller. I still sport my rose-colored glasses around the City of Angels.
Shine the spotlight on Marina del Rey, hometown to our heroine "Siena", and Moonshadows in Malibu where she's ready for the birthday soiree that secures she'll never have to work a day in her life.
"Tutta La Vita Davanti." (Your whole life ahead of you.)
Davanti: A Thriller in Golden Handcuffs
Was this business as usual in the City of Angels?
Would she have to tip toe away from some kind of Grisham exposé?
A rising socialite loses her inheritance and is forced to take a day job where she discovers her mentor is involved in a security threat just before it goes global.
In the literary world of genres I nestle up to the "corporate thriller", since the "travel thriller" subgenre isn't offical yet, but I'm working toward a delicious and lucrative melange.
Keep you posted with updates as I'm writing up a storm.
Chicago and I are now enjoying some elegant summer conditions.
I appreciate your support and cheers to a fantastic holiday!
Chicago skyline under sail. Bliss.
